Resolution:  To use a retro-fit converged modality classroom, please see the instructions below. This knowledge base article applies to the following classrooms: Cook Hall 102, Wicks Hall 202, and Nevaldine North 115.

Retro-fit converged modality classrooms. Applies to the following classrooms:

Wicks Hall 202

Cook Hall 102

Nevaldine North 115

• Startup
  1. If the touch screen is blank, touch the screen to bring it out of sleep mode. If that doesn't work, touch the button on the top right edge of the touch panel to power on the panel.
     1. Touch the screen anywhere to start the system.
        
        
         
  2. The projector will turn on, and the touch screen will display "Please wait while the display warms up." This allows time for the projector to warm up and get a signal from the system.
• Computer
  1. Turn on the computer and log in with your NetID and password on the CANTON domain.
  2. Touch the Computer button on the sources list at the top of the touch screen.
  3. Be sure to shut down the computer when you are done before shutting down the system.
• Using a campus provided laptop with the HDMI connection
  1. Plug the HDMI cable into the laptop (if the laptop has an HDMI port).
  2. Turn on the laptop.
  3. Touch the Laptop HDMI button on the sources list at the top of the touch screen.
  4. The HDMI connection can also be used for other devices utilizing the adapters provided. Just attach the adapter to the HDMI cable and plug the other end into your device
• Using a campus provided laptop with the VGA connection
  1. Plug the VGA cable into the laptop (if available).
  2. Turn on the laptop.
  3. Touch the Laptop VGA button on the sources list at the top of the touch screen.
• Using the Ceiling Document Camera
  1. Touch the Ceiling Doc Cam button on the sources list at the top of the touch screen.
  2. Place your object or document on the X on the desk underneath the ceiling doc cam.
  3. Use the on-screen controls to zoom in and out, focus the document camera, open or close the iris (allow more or less light to enter), or auto white balance.
     
     
      
• Incorporating the Ceiling Document Camera into your Flex Class
  1. To use the Ceiling Document Camera in a flex class, open your chosen video recording software, then open the icon labeled Doc Cam on the desktop while making sure your screen is shared
  2. If the Doc Cam is not shown, but instead shows the rear camera click on the swap camera button
     
     
      
• Using the Rear Video Camera
  1. To control the video camera in the rear of the classroom, click on the Camera Control button on the top of the touch panel
  2. You can control the camera by using the controls on the screen to turn the camera left, right, up or down.
  3. You can use the middle button to pan out quickly to view the whole classroom
     
     
      
• Using the Volume Controls
  1. To access the source volume control, press the Volume Controls button on the bottom of the touch screen.
     
     
      
  2. On the Volume screen you can use the up and down arrows to control the source (computer/laptop) volume.
  3. Exit the volume controls screen with the exit button.
• Turning off the projector while leaving the system powered
  1. Press the Utilities button on the bottom of the touch panel to access the utilities menu.
  2. On the Utilities menu you can turn the projector on and off or video mute (blank) the projector without turning off the system.
     
     
      
  3. Exit the Utilities menu using the exit button.
• Shutting down the system
  1. Press the System Off button in the lower right-hand corner of the touch panel.
  2. You will be shown a screen that says "Are you sure you want to Shut Down?" Press Yes if you want to shut down, and press No if you want to cancel and go back to using the system.
     
     
      
  3. The system shutdown screen will be displayed allowing the projector to cool down. You will not be able to use the system until the shutdown process is finished.
• Troubleshooting the system
  1. Make sure that the monitor and computer are turned on
  2. Make sure the correct input is selected on the touch screen
