To customize the navigation bar, click "Edit" at the bottom of the navigation bar options; from there, you can re-arrange/remove/edit the available options.
To edit the site content, first click "Edit" in the top right. Then click the plus symbol between different items on the page and select the type of content you intend to add. You can also add an additional section by hitting the purple plus symbol above or below any sections.
Once finished with your changes, if you want to finalize them click "Republish" in the top right and the changes will be active on the live version of the SharePoint site.
If you do not want your changes to be seen yet, you can save a draft version by clicking "Save as draft" in the top left, or you can get rid of them by clicking "Discard changes" which is also in the top left.
