This article explains how to fix your screen going blank when you close your laptop when it is attached to a docking station or another monitor.

 

 

Resolution:  

1. Click the windows Icon in the lower left of your screen and search "Lid" (The setting should be called "Change what closing the lid does") Click that setting.
   
    
2. Under the "Plugged in" column, go to the bottom most drop down menu that corresponds with "When I close the lid" and change that setting to "Do nothing"
   
    
3. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the screen.
