How Do I Install the Fortinet VPN Client?

1) Open up the Company Portal application by pressing your start button either in the bottom left corner of your screen (Windows 10) or in the bottom-middle of your screen (Windows 11) and then searching for it by name.

2) Choose the tile for the Fortinet VPN client as shown here:

3) Now select "Install" button from the upper right corner of your screen to begin the installation process. Follow the on screen instructions to advance and complete the install. 

 

4) Once complete, launch the Fortinet client, and accept the licensing agreement on screen.

Open the start menu and type in 'FortiClient VPN'

 

5) Select the "Configure VPN" option and enter in the following information for the SUNY Canton network:

  • Connection Name: SUNY Canton
  • Remote Gateway: 137.37.100.8
  • Customize Port [Easiest way to do this is manually add 10 in front of the existing port]: 10443
  • Enable Single Sign On (SSO) for VPN Tunnel: Check this box
  • Press the blue Save button

6) Once completed and saved, you will now be prompted with a blue SAML login button. Clicking on that button will bring you to a page to log into your SUNY Canton account, using your full SUNY Canton email address. You will have 120 seconds to complete the login process.

 

7) Once you approve the required MFA prompt, you will be connected to the SUNY Canton VPN where you will be able to access a variety of SUNY Canton services.
 

Please note, the VPN connection will not work on campus.
