How to Handle Quarantine Emails

  • Quarantine emails are received from Microsoft to inform you that potentially harmful emails have been intercepted and are awaiting your review. Below is an example of a quarantine email.

  • To review quarantined emails you may click "Quarantine" hyperlink in the email or click HERE.
  • This will bring you to the Microsoft Defender page, click "Review", and then the icon under "Quarantine", as displayed below:

  • Here you can review all of the quarantined emails, and decide how they should be handled. The options for a quarantine email are listed below:
  1. Release - to have the email released from quarantine and sent to you.
  2. More - Contains "Allow sender" which will prevent future emails from that address from being quarantined.
  3. Preview message - Allows you to see what the email will look like prior to deciding how it should be handled.
  4. Delete messages - Deletes the selected message so it can no longer be released.
