To specify a default file viewer on a Mac, first select a file of the type you would like to use.
Then click "..." in the top right of the finder window, and select "Get Info".
From there click the drop down menu in the "Open with" section.
Select the application you want to use.
Press continue on the pop up window asking you to confirm, and you are all set.
